YOUR HOSTS
The owners are the Yearwoods, a large West Indian family with roots that trace 300 years back England. Managing Director John Yearwood met his American wife Karen in West Africa and they have travelled extensively in Europe, Asia and Africa. These travels have helped them create the perfect Nevis beach resort with excellent local cuisine, a casual relaxed ambience and infused with the warm, friendly welcome of genuine Caribbean people. You will be greeted by Faith Bertie, the local General Manager, or her reception staff, Nakida, Joan, Laverne or Pulmati. In the restaurant you will meet Moy, Marcella and Tim, the evening maitre'd, who is famous for his hospitality and has been written about in most travel magazines.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
Oualie Beach Resort is still the only green globe certified tourism product on St Kitts and Nevis and is deeply committed to sustainable tourism practices. These range from electricity and water saving techniques to community development. John Yearwood is on the Board of the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society.
TESTIMONIALS
This is what Mary Travers of Peter, Paul & Mary fame says about Oualie Beach Resort:
"I have never been a beach person. My Caribbean beach experiences had been baking on a flat atoll and after two or three days, I was ready to leave.
Then I discovered Oualie Beach Resort. The sand feels like wet velvet, without stones, shells or hard currents. Oualie is my favorite beach, not only Nevis, but all of the Caribbean. My husband, Ethan, and I delight in the laid-back atmosphere where we can lounge and read while watching Pelicans nose-dive for lunch.
The food, staff and location are perfect. Again, I've never been a beach person but I am now...an Oualie Beach person."
Mary Travers - April 2004
Her husband Ethan says:
"When my wife and I first visited Oualie Beach in Nevis we knew we had found something special. Sitting on the beach, looking out at the eastern hills of St. Kitts, time, worries and the daily pressures of the stateside hustle simply melt away. In the Carib Indian language "Oualie" means "pure water." We consider Oualie Beach "pure paradise."
Ethan Robbins - April 2004
