Nevis Yacht Club exchanges burgees

At the yachting festivities held at Oualie Beach Resort this weekend, the St Maarten Yacht Club and the Nevis Yacht Club exchanged their club flag or "burgee". A sailing regatta organised by the Nevis and St Maarten yacht clubs arrived at Oualie Beach Resort on Saturday afternoon. One of the yachts in the race was the classic design SV Kate that was built is St Kitts. The visiting yachts were then challenged by the Nevis Yacht Club to a mini race in the Narrows which was won by the Nevis based yacht "Feisty". The Yachtsmen were then entertained with a superb dinner and dance at the Resort.

Sunset Cruises

The Resort has now added a sunset cruise from the dock at Oualie Beach on Thursdays. The boat "Sea Monkey" currently departs at 5.30pm and provides a perfect series of photo opportunities during the hour long trip along the sheltered Leeward coast of Nevis. Nevis Triathlon/Cross Channel Swim

The hard bodies are set for their annual gathering at Oualie Beach Resort on 15th March 2009, the date for the 7th Annual Nevis Olympic Triathlon. That is followed on 29th March 2009 by the Cross Channel Swim. As if all the swimming/biking/running was not enough, two weeks later the fitness crowd plunge into the waters of Oualie Bay and swim through the open ocean for about 3 miles to the neighbouring island of St. Kitts!

British Airways begins direct service to Federation

Saturday 10th January 2009 marked the first time British Airways offered a direct scheduled service to the Federation. London to St Kitts direct !. Unfortunately the flight arrived 4 hours late so I guess they had heard about our "Caribbean time"! Anyway the passengers eventually made it to Nevis and we islanders are delighted with the new service.
